FAQ

Q1. How often can I change the menu cycle?
A1. If you are on a fixed price menu deal then all menu changes need to be agreed in advance. Simply submit your menu by email or fax to your Area Manager and he or she will cost it for you. Once you agree the price, agree a start date and you can start using it immediately. For those customers who are working on a fixed price per item/dish, there is an online method for updating your menu cycle. We can the changes or you can. The new prices will automatically be displayed as you make the changes.

Q2. How do you account for diabetic or special diets?
A2. Diabetic recipes are normally setup alongside the normal choice on the menu and depending upon how many portions you require of both normal and diabetic you enter the number of portions required. Interchef will then generate the information you require in order to produce each dish. The diabetic menu items can be built in as part of your overall menu price or it can be done on an dish per dish basis. Indeed you could have separate menu cycle just for special diets if required. Its entirely up to you.

Q5. Who delivers the produce?
A5. Supply Direct uses a network of national and local suppliers to deliver the produce direct to your premises. National contracts covers the delivery of frozen and dry produce whereas the fresh produce (butcher meat, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and milk) tend to come from a local supplier.

Q6. How many deliveries do I receive per week?
A6. This depends very much on your current storage facilities and how many meals you are producing. Typically you will receive one dry and frozen delivery plus 2 butcher, plus 3 fruit and veg and daily deliveries of bread and milk.

Q7. Who checks the deliveries?
A7. The deliveries are checked in by the person incharge of the stores. Somebody within the catering team needs to be given the duties of looking after stores. In some very large sites Supply Direct will employ a store manager to look after all of the store's duties. If you would like us to do this it can be included in the price.

Q8. Who places the supplier orders?
A8. The orders are all placed via Interchef by Supply Direct. If you have a Supply Direct storeman onsite this may be one of his/her duties.

Q9. Can I still see reps from other companies to get ideas on new products?
A9. Yes. We are always encouraging new ideas and flare in your menus and any help suppliers can give helps. If you see a product you would like to try let us know and we can source samples for you.

Q10. Who vets the suppliers?
A10. All of our suppliers must possess at least a C pass certificate from our independent auditors STS. STS is an independent company of current and ex-practising environmental health officers who vet our suppliers to ensure their premises pass all of the food safety legislation. Suppliers receive at least two audits per annum, but can be audited upon request where clients request it or where we feel it may be necessary. Where clients wish to use suppliers who are not STS approved, we also have our own food safety auditor who can inspect suppliers as and when required. If suppliers do not pass our food safety audit and the client still wishes us to use them, Supply Direct will take no liability for them.
